Canadian Refugees and asylum

Canada protects some of the things that exist in Canada under certain conditions and makes them refugees. These are people who are afraid of the millennium and persecution, or who are at risk if they are forced to leave Canada.

Some dangers may be encountered

  • Torture
  • Danger threatens their lives
  • Danger of cruel and unusual treatment or punishment

If you feel you are facing other risks if you return to your home country or country where you normally live, you may be supported as a refugee in Canada.


Admission requirements:

Some people are not eligible to apply for refugee protection in Canada.

Note: If a person has applied to leave Canada, he or she can not claim asylum.

Officers examining a person’s asylum claim decide whether the case is referred to the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB). The IRB is an independent body that decides on immigration and asylum.

The IRB decides who is a refugee to the convention or someone who needs protection.

A refugee is someone who exists outside your own country or in a country where you normally live and is based on fear of persecution.

          • Race
          • Religion
          • Political opinion
          • Nationality
          • Membership in a social group, such as women or those with a particular sexual orientation

A person who needs protection in Canada is someone who cannot stretch safely Come back. This is because if you return you may face the following risks:

  •  Risk of torture
  • Their lives are in danger
  • Danger of cruel and unusual treatment or punishment

If your asylum application does not qualify for referral to the IRB?

It may be possible for another country to return to the Convention as a refugee

They are not acceptable in Canada for security reasons or criminal activity or human rights violations
The previous asylum claim had to be made which was not recognizable
He liked the previous claim of refugees, which was rejected by the IRB
The previous asylum claim was abandoned or withdrawn

Third country safe agreement
(Safe Third Country Agreement)
Canada has an agreement with the United States that says if you apply for asylum you must be safe in the first country, if you do, if you do.

This means that if you enter Canada from the US border, you cannot apply for asylum in Canada. In some cases, this rule does not apply (for example, if you have a family in Canada).
